Surfing & Water Sports

North Wales is a great place to learn new sports, especially the type that get your hair wet. Anything from the slow pace sports like kayaking and sailing to adrenalin filled white water rafting and surfing. The lakes, rivers and coast lines of North Wales are there waiting for you.

Our favourite spot for surfing is Hells Mouth near Abersoch, this amazing stretch of coast line is home to Wales’ best waves and could arguably be of the best locations in the country. If you don’t know how to surf, no problem, The West Coast Surf Shop offers lessons during summer months so why not try something new.

Surf Snowdonia

Scared of jellyfish?  North Wales is home to Britain’s only artificial surfing lake ‘Surf Snowdonia’. A man made lake with an almighty powerful wave machine which offers waves of multiple sizes suitable for beginners and professionals alike.  With a guaranteed wave to catch, its the perfect way to learn – Surf Snowdonia offer lessons for first timers which will leave you with new found love of water. Highly recommend, but do book in advanced.

If surfing is not your thing, maybe the more technical but slower pace of sailing is, there’s plenty of sailing clubs in the area offering one off lessons during the summer months, a great chance to learn new skills and potentially end up with a life long hobby.

And don’t forget your towel.
